Concord, MA (Feb. 6, 2018) — Chief Medical Officer Dr. Keith Kaplan and Chief Algorithmic Officer Dr. Nigel Lee will present at the 25th International Molecular Medicine Tri-Conference in San Francisco on Feb. 13 and Feb. 14.

Dr. Kaplan is presenting "Artificial Intelligence vs. Medical Doctor" with a focus on AI as a tool, not a replacement for the physician, on Wednesday, Feb. 14. Recent advancements in AI show promise in several fields of medicine, and deep learning is enabling the development of expert-level automated algorithms. He will also moderate a panel discussion with eight pathology experts on the topic immediately following his presentation.

Dr. Lee is presenting "Deep Learning Workflow Design for Next-Generation Digital Pathology" on Tuesday, Feb. 13. He will discuss the implementation and workflow design of an automated system designed to detect glomeruli in kidney tissue images quickly and accurately for working pathologists.

About the Presenters:

Dr. Lee leads Corista's development of advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms for medical imaging digital pathology applications. Previously, he worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in the Advanced Sensor Techniques Group and at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in the Weapons Technology Branch, focusing on adaptive time-frequency detection in active sonar applications. He received his B.S. degree from Brown University and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University, all in electrical engineering.

Dr. Kaplan is an active member of the College of American Pathologists and executive board member of the American Pathology Foundation. He is a graduate of Michigan State University and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he was named Resident of the Year. Since 2007, Dr. Kaplan has published The Digital Pathology Blog at tissuepathology.com, the industry's leading pathology blog.
